Mrs Hauflers class presented a “Good Luck” bag to senior basketball player, Kiera Wiatrek, this morning in honor of her traveling to play-offs. This is the part of the " Adopt a player" idea that ECC had for our Sqaws! Thank you ECC students and Good Luck Kiera!!

Our JHS Culinary students have been hard at work practicing for the upcoming paella competition! 🥘🔥

From perfecting their knife skills to mastering the art of building bold, authentic flavors, these talented young chefs are putting in the time and teamwork it takes to create an award-worthy dish. Paella may look simple, but balancing the rice texture, seasoning, proteins, and presentation takes precision and practice!

Hey JES and ECC Families!

Next week we’re celebrating Read Across America Week in honor of the amazing impact reading has on our lives! 📚✨

Inspired by the mission of National Education Association and their nationwide Read Across America initiative, this special week encourages readers of all ages to discover new books, explore different stories, and grow their love of reading.

To help us celebrate, we’re adding some extra fun with dress-up days all week long! 🎉

Today, Mrs. Carrillo's kinder students had a wonderful time in the makerspace as part of their ongoing exploration of hibernation. They continued their class discussion on the topic and enjoyed a read-aloud of Time to Sleep. Students learned interesting facts about various animals and deepened their understanding of how and why animals hibernate. As a culminating activity, the class selected a bear as their focus animal and worked collaboratively to design and build a den where the bear will hibernate.

We are very thankful to the Atascosa community, businesses and the Atascosa Sheriff's Department for working together to have these Falcon Ballistic Shields built for our schools! We are the first in the state to have these! The coordinated effort and love our communities have for our schools is truly recognized and appreciated! Thank you for helping to protect our children!

Our early childhood Center (ECC) is exploring a three-year-old Play-based learning program for young children. We are seeking feedback from parents/guardians to help guide our planning.
Program details:
Time of day 8:00am-2:00pm;
no transportation provided;
qualify based on parent/guardian income-free or reduced lunch.
What is Play-based learning?
Play-based learning is an approach where children learn through hands-on activities, integrates physical, sensory and cognitive activities to strengthen brain connectivity, to improve focus and enhance behavior in children. Teachers will intentionally design play experiences that build language, problem-solving, social skills, cognitive development, and emotional development.

Please take this survey so we can evaluate the need for this type of program.

Ms McCollum’s Science students dove deep into the dynamic world beneath our feet as they completed their Plate Tectonics Lab this week!

Through hands-on models and collaborative investigation, students explored how Earth’s lithospheric plates move and interact. From convergent boundaries forming mountain ranges to divergent boundaries creating new crust and transform boundaries causing earthquakes, the classroom was buzzing with discovery.
